GasFlickFlame: Networking Will Have A Different Approach with MRVL WRLD's New Event Series
You arrive. When you check in, you're given a name tag, or a color, or a wristband with a color. The idea is that other attendees can identify you by your name, or your discipline or what type of creator you are. But you're not a creator, per se. You're a business owner.
And you're attending this creator networking event to maybe connect with a creator who can help you grow awareness for your business. It beats doing another TikTok dance, or using some trending audio, or figuring out what trial reels are. And most importantly, it'll get you maybe a dedicated collaborator who can think about those aspects that help you grow your business while you operate it.
You shake hands. You bring samples. And if you're a creator, you're asked to bring a ring light, a camera, and maybe other equipment that almost always goes unused because now it's time for the panel discussion where folks will be talking about the same formula to growing online: consistency.
If you're like me, you've been to events like this. You go for this networking event that boasts collaboration and growth and being part of the community, only to be brought to an event that's just as stiff as the last one.
I personally think networking sucks. Yes, as extroverted as I appear to be (yeah, I said appear), networking is draining.
And this is why since last year I've actively been moving away from just networking. If this is a creator event, why isn't anyone creating. And that's how and why I began building on a concept as a solution for this.
Gas. Flick. Flame. is a creation and collaboration event series that looks to focus more on the fun and joy in the "work", while tearing down the "net".
It happens everywhere else. At the major event conferences - DreamCon, ComicCon, CultureCon, AfroPunk, AfroTech, you name it!
So, why not here? Why not us?
"Alex, are you looking to launch a convention?"
Fuck Yes, if we all accept that the sky isn't the limit.
The goal of GasFlickFlame is to facilitate a creative environment that makes creativity and collaboration contagious. An environment like this drives execution, but also makes real-time learning feel safe, while also allowing for deeper connections other than the head nod and, "so, what do you do"?
On March 22nd, 2026, MRVL WRLD hosted our very first "stress test" and run through of GasFlickFlame, allowing us to really dig into getting the early kinks out and building on this concept to bring it to life by Summer 2026.
Over the years, I've had the pleasure of being part of fashion shows, production shoots, events, and festivals that have all signaled the reality that networking events refuse to bring to life: collaboration is the best conversation.
In the spirit of new rules, we're really looking to develop a new concept that genuinely provides value for creators, entrepreneurs, and businesses alike - that's our community. With varied skill levels, interests, disciplines, and challenges, bringing together the best minds and talents is how we really establish repeatable success for everybody at the table.
Gas me up. We may need the motivation, the inspiration, and the collaboration.
Flick it up. Let's create in the moment, whether it's generally documenting growth, capturing video, audio, or photo - it's time to create.
Drop the Flames. Let what we create in these moments be nothing but the best.
For more information on GasFlickFlame, including how to become a sponsor, partner, or Featured Creator, we will be publishing information about executing the concept at large as April continues. In the mean time, join WRLD WIDE to see more information and keep up in the project at large.
