Throwback Thursday: Mistah Marvel's 'Storyteller Official Video'

Almost A Decade Before Directing "The Perfectionist", A Collaboration With DMedia District Served As My First Music Video.

"This is the sequel that prequels the Glory"

Perhaps we've officially gotten to that point in the existence of the internet where we are now able to accidentally stumble across our own work, posted on some unattached page, and whisper, "Oh Wow" to ourselves.

Almost a decade before shooting and directing my own videos, "Storyteller" was one of two music videos that existed for me.

Shot on site in Tampa's Flatwoods Park, the video was directed by Priscilla Dixon of DMedia District, starring a young "Mistah Marvel" pushing his mixtape titled, "MyRealViciousLife", which released on DatPiff on April 30th, 2015.

"Storyteller" was intended to be a song that opened the project up, marking that the entire project itself included story songs, mostly those of coming to age and post-graduation scenarios that felt critical to me as I inched closer to turning 25. While neither the project nor the song had a lot of promotional steam behind it, both still remain the key inspirations behind MRVL WRLD and where we're headed today.

"Storyteller" (2015), directed by Priscilla Dixon, featuring Alex August, Neville Clarke, and King Chalice.

Oh...And About The First Video?

Behold. 2011's "Falling Remix" with CrissVee, directed by Deni Brave, and featured Jalyssa Troupe. Falling was part of a GoodKnocking Entertainment Group music project called AllThatDamnNoise initially started in 2011 and released in 2012 under the title, 72512.
